All Good Books

I photographed All Good Books, a local bookstore and community hub, to highlight its role beyond just selling books. My focus was on the events they host, showcasing their deep commitment to the community. With their schedule in hand, I captured moments from a podcast recording, a law school discussion, and a typical Saturday at the shop.

I stayed for long periods of time because in a bookstore, things can move slowly. It’s important to be patient and wait for the moments to occur. The most meaningful shots came from simply being present, letting the scene unfold naturally, and capturing it when the timing felt right.

One of my biggest struggles was shooting the outside of the store. I really wanted this shot, but the bright white exterior and the road out front were challenging to capture with visual interest. I waited, and when a girl with a bike rolled by, I snapped the shot.

By carefully considering shot lengths and details, I aimed to visually represent everything that makes All Good Books special. I shared these photos with them and on social media to draw attention to the store.
